A little history...
Keystones is situated in the cellar of buildings that were first erected at some time in the 10th century A.D. The bar has as its centrepiece the remaining part of a medieval stone vaulted undercroft, the only one still to be seen in Worcester. There has been a licensed ale house in the building since at least the beginning of the 17th Century when ‘The Earles Post’ is recorded, later to become ‘the Bear with the Ragged Staff’, which pertains to the badge of the Duke of Warwick.

Since the Saxon period, the cellar has survived several demolitions and redevelopments
of the buildings that have sat above it, most recently in the 1960’s
when the current building, Marmion House, was built; although some of the
vaults were removed from the cellar to accommodate a Beer Keller, which thrived
on the spot until the early 1980’s.
For most of the 80’s and the 90’s the cellar was home to the Worcester
police force social club, refreshing and entertaining many a policeman after
a long shift.
